Yeah we have in the past looked at Linux, Before I started here, and the
problem is that no one here has enough knowledge on Linux, and it was
decided that it would be too hard to maintain with clients over the phone as
we sometimes have to.
There is a REAL resistance to it here, and also from some of our
clients....so...

I would also think seriously about the Linux thing too - I'm serious about
the performance difference - one of our sites ("our" in the loosest sense of
the word - we just sold them IB, not developed the app they run over it) had
a network and system crash, and their IB server (NT) got nuked. They got it
back up enough to get the GDB file off, and they stuck it on a Linux box
with 1/2 the processing power (going from NT with dual PII 450's / 512meg
RAM to Linux w/ single PII 450 / 512meg RAM), and it performed identically
under the same load.
Should just how BAD windows' VM management and task scheduling is!
