Ahem.......
I could either turn the other cheek, totally ignore this or liven up the
list for christmas - what should it be????

Sorry about that, it was unintentional, and I meant no offence by it.

True it is hearsay (it is also true) but I put it in as a response to two
statements you made, both of which I considered rather bold and a matter of
opinion, rather than fact, these were ....
"Interbase is a fine database but way behind Oracle and MS SQL" - this was
the one that initially drew my attention as I thought it should be prefixed
by IMO (mainly the MS SQL portion).
"Having worked with both (prob a statement only you (nic) and I can
make!)" - this IMO is a statement on par with some of Mohammed Ali's press
conferences when he was "the undisputed champion", except Ali could actually
back it up.
> when you have some knowledge yourself I'd be inteterested in listening to
> your opinion.
I actually found this statement quite offensive and won't say what I really
want to here, instead....
Slightly off tack here but: pretend you are a mechanic, if a couple of
colleagues whose professional opinion you valued said "yeah, we tried
washing our hands in a battery acid bath to get the oil off - it did the
job but we'd recommend you use swarfega instead, it leaves your skin
intact". Would you waste your time trying the acid bath? I wouldn't,
although I hadn't tried the acid bath myself, I'd consider that
a: I had some knowledge, through consulting with the colleagues, and
b: because of this knowledge my opinion might actually be of value.
> 3/
>> "you'll never lose your job by choosing Microsoft".....
> If you are any way suggesting I'm an braindead M$ sycophant then you.
I must confess my original posting was intended to be a bit inflamatory, and
obviously it hit a nerve, however, I wasn't suggesting you were "a braindead
M$ sycophant", you wouldn't be on this list if you were. The point of that
statement was, to quote you...
"One things that makes me smile on this list is the dogmatism exhibited
toward Borland Product is exactly what the same people daily complian about
in regard to MS Product"
... I felt there was a similar "dogmatism" against IB and towards MS SQL in
your postings and in support of it you were making some statements that were
not entirely correct so I thought I'd comment.
> a/ Don't know ne
True
> b/ Better not ever say it to my face
Depends, how big are you and how fast can you chase?
Time for sleep.....
