Sergei

I've used Crystal for quite a while now and has the advantage that
as a erport designer it has wide acceptance, but the downsides are
seagate are very windows centric (linux turns up little in their plans, tho
I did find
a German Co that had pure Java 3rd part CR engine) I think M$ might have a
hand up their backside
and the VCL Component is becoming increasingly fat as more amd more
functionality is rolled into
the CRPE32.DLL and the delphi wrapper exposes it, The latest beta added 900K
to your project
I corresponded with Frank Zimmerman the writer about this and he was having
trouble separating
the run and design features into two components (mind you he also did not
know
how to implement an interface). Currently for these reasons (mainly the
windows part)
I'm looking for a better report writer have you considered nevronas rave?
The
best part of crystal is that the runtime engine is free to distribute (cause
they derive their revenue from
sales of the designer) Other Report Engines try to derive their revenue from
runtime deployment
(which I always find distasteful)

HTH

Neven
