I was in almost exactly this position about 4 years ago. I ended up going
from paradox to ms sql server and using winframe to give access via the wan.
I would use winframe first as this gives you wan access without much in the
way of effort. then rewrite the app to use a tquery s and a real database
(IB or sql depending on taste/cost).
I have found that ttables (esp with infopower components) can cause serious
performance issues/lock ups and the like.
My experience with asta is such that I would prefer winframe/sql server
rather than asta. It is not that asta is a bad product, but we spend so
much time working around peculiarlarities that it wasn't worth it. your
mileage may vary.
