You missed:

1b. Do you run any program that is locally written and supported? If so ring
the authors and blame them for the problem! Demand that they fix it
instantly and don't take any back chat about Microsoft bugs, hardware bugs,
or third part driver bugs. Office runs (mostly) OK, so it must be the
locally written software causing the problem!

And also:

3b. Obvious your operating system is out of date. Provide Microsoft with its
revenue and try and newer operating system. Go to 1.
