I think there is still plenty of work around for Delphi developers - all that Delphi code out there isn't just going to go away and will need to be maintained. However, the question that should be asked is how many people are starting new projects in Delphi (as opposed to C# / Java / Ruby etc).
It's my understanding that specialized skills (Delphi Programming) usually demand higher rewards as opposed to commodity programming (C# or Java), but I guess it's mostly going to come down to supply and demand. All the same - it's probably worth learning another language. I haven't started any kind of new project for awhile, and have been just enhancing our existing products. I've just started learning Ruby on Rails (although haven't gotten very far as yet), which I hope to start something with this year. How about other people: 1. Still maintaining Delphi code? 2. Started a new Delphi project in the last year? 3. Started a new project in another language in the last year (what was the language)? 4. What other languages are you using learning? My Answers 1. Yes, 2. No, 3. No, 4.
