Sorry I disagree! The big difference between the linux and OSX/iPhone/Android markets is that people are used to paying for OSX and mobile software. In the mobile world most people are used to paying $50/$100+ per month for their working environment. And its growing mightily. iPhone apps are usually cheap, which favours smaller developers over larger ones.
