Sorry I disagree!   The big difference between the linux and 
OSX/iPhone/Android markets is that people are used to paying for OSX and 
mobile software.  In the mobile world most people are used to paying 
$50/$100+ per month for their working environment.  And its growing 
mightily.    iPhone apps are usually cheap, which favours smaller developers 
over larger ones.   And there is no MS offerings to do such software as far 
as I know...
