That all depends what you mean by "reasonable". Vodafone offer the HTC handset for as little as "FREE". "Free" in this case means signing up for 24 months at $80/mth, so that's $2000 (give or take) in real money, albeit on an installment plan.
A handset only deal will set you back $750. I was nearly tempted by the "installment plan" but fortunately (for me) the Vodafone rep was able to demonstrate the device as she herself had one. As a result I quickly changed my mind. The on-screen keyboard (it has no physical keyboard at all) was just too small for my fingers and didn't have cursor keys that I (or she) could find. So, e.g. when entering a txt message, if you make a mistake the only way to position the cursor on the offending text is to try to hit exactly the right spot in the txt with your finger (or backspace ALL text back to it) .. you can't simply cursor back over/thru the txt!!! And unless you have a child's fingers and prod the letter out *real* carefully (i.e. slowly), you will make mistakes with the tiny virtual keyboard. Guaranteed. There is no stylus. The media hype seemed to peek because Google is selling the latest (running Android 2.1 I think) directly... not sure why the hype, but I am sure it is good for the phone and for Google... In terms of Development, Android is Java based (mainly), and comes with a few plugins for Eclipse to make things more easy... all free. iPhone has an XCode development environment, not to familiar with it...
