I'll second the "Virtual Machine" part. I've been doing all of my development on VmWare Workstation for the last few years, and it's *REALLY* good. I can use rsync to back up my virtual machine to a different computer every day, so I always have a good backup. And I can simply open up my virtual machine from a different computer if my current one decides to die. Also using a virtual machine will make you less inclined to install junk software onto the virtual machine, and that will make your VM run well for a LONG time without an reinstall! I've changed my computer 3 times since I started using VmWare and never had to reinstall my Delphi enviroment. One last comment: I'm running VmWare on a Windows machine so I'm actually using two Windows licenses for this (no Ubuntu) - but that's not a problem since I've got a MSDN OS Subscription. There are countless raisons for using VmWare, especially when combined with a MSDN subscription. You can keep virtual machines for different versions of Windows handy so you can test your application. You can keep "fresh" installs of Windows so you can test installers for your applications (if you miss some files and need to re-build your installer you'll simply roll-back your virtual machine and try again - a 1 minute job, not a 40 minutes job for a full system reinstall!) -- Cosmin Prund _______________________________________________ Delphi mailing list -> Delphi@elists.org http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/delphi
