My reason for questioning this was simply because the warning about it being platform specific doesn't tell you anything useful! I suspected that it was referring to Win32, but the way things change it might have also been even more specific than that, referring to particular versions of Windows. I think it's pretty dam stupid for a compiler designed for Win32 to warn that a unit is specific to it. I would expect to get such a warning IF I did port it over to Net or Kylix as you mentioned.

As already said, FileCtrl unit trigger a warning saying it is specific to a platform. Actually this unit is specific to Win32. As long as you are interested in Win32, there is no problem. If you want your application to be ported to .NET or Kylix, then you have a problem. > And I use any number of it methods in > various units, such as ForceDirectories, ProcessPath, and more. > I haven't found any equivalent methods elsewhere. You would only find equivalent for other platforms obviously as those operations are specific to a given platform. Which other plateform are you interested in ? Why do you think you have a problem ? Just turn off that warning if you are building a win32 application. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Author of ICS (Internet Component Suite, freeware) Author of MidWare (Multi-tier framework, freeware) http://www.overbyte.be _______________________________________________ Delphi mailing list -> [email protected] http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/delphi _______________________________________________ Delphi mailing list -> [email protected] http://lists.elists.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/delphi
