Hmm, the picture of Quick Reports is emerging to be a rather unfavorable one. In any 
event you have all been so responsive and helpful. Although I am a Delphi neophyte, I 
will keep my eye on these forums to see if perhaps I can lend assistance in time.

I could have suggested this one if I had been thinking hard enough. 
I've had heaps of problems with quickreports/qrdesign on XP.  In 
particular (default) network printers not being present and no printer 
installed - but have never seen this error (all my problems have been 
runtime).
