FIXED FIXED FIXED !!!

It was indeed a file assoication pointing to another machine.
Fortunitly, I knew the name of my old PC, so I did a search in the
registry, and the first instance it found was the culprit File extension
entry !!  What a stroke of luck !!

So if anyone else has this issue, search the registry for names of PCs
in your registry, am sure it will reveil the problem reg. entry.
