I've had this problem on my XP PC at my last job.  It was like that for
several months but I just put up with it.  Double-click, right-click, Del,
any operation on an icon or file would take about 45 seconds before anything
would happen.  Disconnecting the network cable would have been done a few
times over that time but nothing fixed it.  I had the idea it was perhaps
looking for a domain or server that didn't exist anymore as there had been
many changes in servers at one stage, but I didn't know where to look.
Drive mappings were ok.
