Hi

My experience is that lost of site will also block anything marked as a zip. Some will also block anything with an 'unknown extension' so your .dat might also fail. We have one client we just cant send anything to, neither of us can work out what his IT department (in the UK) will allow through.

We often use ftp to transfer files (and have some simple ftp tools) but even this is problematic. The whole thing seems a bit of a mess :)

Distributing software....

I am favouring making a self installer using inno-setup (a nice Delphi based
free installer). This means sending a .exe file, which lots of email
systems will block, so I was thinking of sending the .EXE inside a .zip
file. Will any email systems block a zip with a .EXE file inside? (I think
some antivirus programs do look for this combination).
Alternatively I could send the .EXE with a .DAT extension and get it renamed
after the attachment is saved..

What do others do?

John
