(Richard may correct, but this is the way I have always considered software)
Think of it this way: When you pay the sticker price for the software, effectively you are creating an agreement between yourself and Borland that you will use this software that they have supplied, and they grant you the right to use said software. It's the same as buying a CD, Book etc. You don't own the content, just the right to use it. So with that logic in mind, how can you possibly sell it to a third party.
