Follow-up Comment #2, bug #37094 (project denemo):
You wouldn't actually be saving the gui, just recreating it from the Lilypond
text. That should be the same process as you go through when a new custom
layout is created.
I know that creating a new layout must create the GUI dynamically because you
can create buttons etc for things that you don't know about e.g. header
entries that are created by my scripts such as Top Margin and Sub Title.
