Ray is being used by the genomics community, with ~ 300 downloads since the
release of
Ray 2.2.0 (2013-04-17).

We used it on a IBM Blue Gene/Q and a Cray XE6.

Ray requires a MPI library (MPI standard version 1.0 or later).

In regard to the Intel produt line, I enjoyed running Ray on guillimin at
McGill University which uses
Intel Xeon, and Intel QLogic interconnect. In addition, Ray runs like a charm
with the PSM (performance scaled messaging)
to pass messages with Open-MPI.

Ray uses mostly point-to-point messaging (MPI_Isend, MPI_Iprobe, MPI_Recv).
Recently, we added
MPI I/O features in Ray too.
