I'm using denyhosts on Solaris 10 successfully.  The only oddity I've noticed 
is really more an issue with the Solaris syslog daemon.  Denyhosts does not 
seem to handle the "Last message repeated n times." well.  Setting MaxAuthTries 
down to 2 in sshd_config helps, but does not completely cure this.  

As to your earlier regex expression question, I've not run into that problem.
