Mamta, you are right. SQL spec Section 4.2.2 also defines the relation between
collation and comparision very clear. The downside is that most applications
using collation must be very careful in the use of collation to get the correct
semantics. Since "Håkon" and "Haakon" as alternate ways of spelling the same
name will be considered equal while "Christian" and "Kristian" which also is
alternate spellings of another name will not. But, that is beside the point.
The SQL standard is very clear.
Then, to use the lingo from Unicode. "aa" will be one *text element* (not a
grapheme cluser) with regards to both sorting and comparision.
