Hi Myrna,
I believe that there are 2 subversion repositories in play here:
1) The repository we've been using for the past 7 years to hold the website
source. Let's call this the SOURCE repository.
2) The repository which holds the entire public website of Apache projects.
Let's call this the ORG repository.
Before migrating to svnpubsub, the generated output of a website build ended up
in another subtree of the SOURCE repository. All you had to do was commit the
SOURCE changes and the generated changes would be committed too. Then you had
to log onto people.apache.org in order to refresh the directory tree which was
used to kick the rsync demon into publishing the changes.
After migrating to svnpubsub, the generated output of a website build ends up
in a subtree of the ORG repository. So you have to checkin the SOURCE changes
(the big commit stamp) and you have to checkin the ORG changes (the smaller
commit stamp). You're right, we need to document this in the release
instructions and in our instructions for updating the website. Thanks.
