Aleksandar, speaking for myself, I'm perfectly happy for you to continue the great work you've been doing, using the tools you feel comfortable with. I understand that you don't have time at the moment to learn how to produce all the same effects with Gimp and Inkscape. It is possible to convert many things from Photoshop and Illustrator into Gimp and Inkscape formats. The most useful thing is for us to *have all the source files on the wiki*. That already makes an enormous difference. And the most important thing is that we don't want to discourage you from continuing the fantastic contributions you've been making. With an Open Source project like LibreOffice, you have to remember a few things and not be discouraged by them: * when you offer work, there are some people who are not shy of making opinionated statements even when they never/rarely do any actual useful work for the project. You don't need to pay too much attention to them. But do remember that the people who actually use your work and make the requests for graphics are extremely grateful for your work, and admire and respect your creativeness and skill. * There is absolutely *no* official TDF policy against the use of work from commercial programs. We just need the source files in a reasonably usable form. Photoshop and Illustrator are market standards in graphic design, and there are actually lots of people on this list who have and use those tools themselves. So don't feel shy about continuing to use them. * The fact that we give time and work to an Open Source project shows that we care about Open Source software. But sometimes people tend to be over-zealous about the subject. It would be very sad if you were to stop working for the project just because you use Adobe products and you get the feeling that. therefore, your work isn't welcome. We really need talented artists like you, who actually produce professional quality artwork and don't just spend their time writing to mailing lists. What you've been doing is really superb. I do hope we don't lose your interest because of the unproductive - even counter-productive - comments of people who don't actually *produce* very much themselves. This is all my own 2 cents, but I just can't sit here and say nothing when I see a reproduction of some of the silly and negative attitudes and behaviors that have been quite damaging to this project in the past. -- David Nelson -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
