Yes, some of it is based on where I am, or where I have to get to --factoring in transportation time is one usage. Another usage is if I have to do something in advance of the meeting - read something, or otherwise prepare. For my geek book club, I like to set the reminder several days in advance to remind me to do the reading. That's more of a task reminder, but it's still an instance where I'd like more control over the reminder duration.
