These are features all relating to timezones and are dependent upon
each other. The Scooby team will choose to implement them as a package,
or not at all. Vote on whether or not you feel these features are
important enough for the target user release. -Priscilla Feature: Storing a default timezone Current Behavior: + The timezone is always reset and displayed based on the default timezone of the computer a user is on. Proposed Behavior: + The timezone is set by the user and stored. This allows the user to always see their "home" timezone on Scooby even if connecting from an Internet café on the other side of the world. Dependencies: + Need a UI for selecting timezone. What we need to know: + How important is this for 0.2? (P1-5) + How important is this for target user release? (P1-5) (Note: P1 = most important and P5 = least important) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feature: Having the user set the default timezone from a list of timezones Current Behavior: + Currently no UI exists for choosing a default timezone. Proposed Behavior: + Combo box presented in the upper right hand side of the calendar display. (See Chandler TZ screenshot attached) Dependencies: + A UI for storing the selected timezone What do we need to know: + How important is this for 0.2? (P1-5) + How important is this for target user release? (P1-5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feature: Setting the initial default timezone based on the user's IP address Current Behavior: + Currently Scooby uses the timezone, a user has set for their computer, ie. in Mac system preferences: date and time. A user can set the date and time of their computer to something other then the geographic location of their computer. Proposed Behavior: + Scooby guesses the user's geographic location based on their IP address and sets the initial default timezone based on the user's geographic location. (Scooby team please comment if this is described correctly.) Dependencies: + Unknown. (Scooby team please comment.) What do we need to know: + How important is this for 0.2? (P1-5) + How important is this for target user release? (P1-5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feature: Figuring out how to deal with timezones on the client side Current Behavior: + Scooby doesn't actively update the calendar display because no one can change timezones while the user is logged in Proposed Behavior: + After a user changes the calendar's timezone, Scooby redraws the current calendar view and repositions events linked to a specific timezone, ie. a conference call between San Francisco and Houston. Dependencies: + Need to know the selected timezone for the calendar. What do we need to know: + How important is this for 0.2? (P1-5) + How important is this for target user release? (P1-5) |
