Certainly for now it should be because Chandler can't support event items without having date/time information.

However, at any given moment, the likeilhood that you are actually trying to add a new event to your calendar for today is pretty low. Chandler should instead provide a way for users to mark items as things that need to be schedule on their calendar. We can do that by allowing people to add the calendar stamp to the item, while keeping the date/time fields blank...so think of it as:

"This is an item I need to schedule on my calendar...sort of like putting a doctor's office card in the front of your day planner to remind yourself that you have to schedule an appt."

If date/time information cannot be successfully parsed, the item should remain an event with no specific date/time information, this assumes that we are able to support event items without date/ time metadata.

When there is no date/time information, shouldn't the date be the current date and just the time be anytime ?
