I agree we should up the ante on maintenance since 'Restore
Published Shares' has proven to be a useful data recovery tool.
However, I think that's a separate issue from where it belongs in
the menus.
I think of the features in the 'end-user menus' as functionality
users need access to assuming that Chandler is functioning 'as
expected'.
Even though we expect 'Restore Published Shares' to be used by end-
users, I still think of it as a hack...a tool we point people to
when something has gone wrong.
A different way to look at this is: Does this need to be a menu
item? Perhaps we should automatically start the restore-published-
shares process when users fill in sharing account information,
assuming there are already published shares. This is how IMAP
accounts work.
Yes, it doesn't have to be a menu item. But I don't exactly
understand what you mean by "we should automatically start the
restore-published-shares process when users fill in sharing account
information"? Do you mean the list to be available thru a button from
the accounts dialog, and you can selectively pick the ones you want
to restore. Sorry, I am a little unclear on that.
Basically, I don't have a strong opinion on where we put this
functionality but it would be nice to have it accessible more easily.

I was probably one of the people who pushed for it to be under Tools,

I've actually told two end-users to use it recently.
