Charles, I have since moved from Ubuntu to Mint because of a few lingering issues that I got tired of trying to fix. If you want an OS that works 99% out of the box I would try Mint. I know this isn't a fix as much as it is a work around but Mint is built on Ubuntu and they have pretty much set up everything you need for a fully functional OS. In most cases the wireless drivers work right off the bat and you don't have to try to load windows wireless drivers. If you do have to load windows drivers they have a tool setup already for you so you just get the .ini file for your wireless card and you are off to the races. One of the coolest things is that you can play DVDs without having to load additional plugins or codecs and java is already loaded. You can go straight to Youtube without having to load a single thing.
