Charles, When I installed Ubuntu 8.04 I had to install the java plugins and my wireless didn't work right away. Also I had numerous sound card issues. I got it all working after a few days of hitting google and IRC but I had to go through that on about 5 different computers. I have installed 8.04 on about 8 machines and I think 5 gave me fits. I also played with KDE4 which looks nice but I ended up with many duplicate menu options and some stuff just didn't work. All but one machine is now running Mint and I am actually able to focus on customising my setup instead of trying to just get it to function properly. One issue that I wasn't able to resolve in either Ubuntu or Mint is that I only have sound on the rear speakers even though I have a 7.1 sound card. My front audio jack doesn't even work because it is setup for the front speakers.
