thanks my ubuntu did all that it is just that this problem just started I will check mint out for sure though as I run windows before and got tired of the expense of running the os. in five years I have not had one crash, a few freeze ups. and my win XP had to be reloaded or rebuilt numerous times and windows is gone in my book. My wife wants windows on her computer with wireless. I have no problems viewing tube services as you tube. I can't share on a Belkin network so thats a plus for me in mint. The "you must be root" error will be improved in mint matbe. As it is hard to configure my system in ubuntu. without a fuss! Charles

If you do have to load windows drivers they have a tool setup already for you so you just get the .ini file for your wireless card and you are off to the races. One of the coolest things is that you can play DVDs without having to load additional plugins or codecs and java is already loaded.
