Come to think of it, closing the lid should NOT invoke suspend. A lot of
people like to plug in an external monitor, close the laptop lid and
keep using the laptop as a desktop. So it shouldn't suspend by default
when an external monitor is connected.

And now I've found the setting. Just run:

  gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power lid-close-
suspend-with-external-monitor true

I wonder why this isn't configurable in the Settings app...
