It gets more interesting; when I changed from a Dell 2001 FP to a 20.1" Sun 
monitor for the second display, an attempt to configure it just crashes the X 
server when I click "apply":

I've filed http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=9486 on it.

These configurations were trouble-free with my old Quadro FX 1400; perhaps I 
need to remove the NVS 290 and replace it with the older card. :(
