Title:
Unity should be able to remember my most common apps and make them
easy to find/launch
Status in Unity:
Fix Released
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
This is a feature request more than anything. For 12.04, I think
would be absolutely awesome if Unity could remember my most common
apps and help me find/launch them faster and more efficiently?
Right now, I have to manually pin the apps I use the most to the
Launcher. Why? Why can't Unity remember that every single day I
launch Chrome, Thunderbird, XChat, Mumble and Terminator and
automatically pin those for me?
However, I can see that that could cause confusion on the launcher if
items were just appearing and disappearing based on some scale, so the
alternative would be another filter on the dash. How about changing
the home screen on the dash to include 5 icons by 2 rows instead of 4
x 2? On the first row with the Internet Apps filter, the Media Apps
filter, the More Apps filter and the Find Files icon, you could add
one that says "My Favorite Apps" or "Frequently Used Apps" that would
automatically show me the ... say top 10 applications I use.
That would just be the bee's knees.
