Public bug reported: [Impact] Installed snaps show twice in GNOME Software. The solution is to not scan the installed .desktop files - there is sufficient information provided by snapd.
[Test Case] 1. Open GNOME Software 2. Install a snap (e.g. ohmygiraffe) 3. Switched to "Installed" tab Expected result: ohmygiraffe is shown once in the installed list. Observed result: ohmygiraffe is shown twice. One entry has data from the snap metadata, the other from the installed .desktop file. [Regression Potential] There is some risk of breaking other appstream behaviour. The risk is low because we only filter out the snapd specific directory that contains this data. ** Affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) Status: In Progress ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: In Progress ** Affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Zesty) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu Zesty) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: High Assignee: Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) Status: In Progress ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: High Status: In Progress ** Also affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: appstream-glib (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: appstream-glib (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) ** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: appstream-glib (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Also affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: High Assignee: Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) Status: In Progress ** Also affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: High Status: In Progress ** Also affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Zesty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu Zesty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu Zesty) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Zesty) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: appstream-glib (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1700994 Title: Installed snaps show twice in GNOME Software Status in appstream-glib package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in appstream-glib source package in Xenial: New Status in gnome-software source package in Xenial: New Status in appstream-glib source package in Zesty: New Status in gnome-software source package in Zesty: New Status in appstream-glib source package in Artful: In Progress Status in gnome-software source package in Artful: In Progress Bug description: [Impact] Installed snaps show twice in GNOME Software.
