A general userland comment: Reading the above, I experience this among Centos VMs. It is very hard to reproduce for typical text copy/pastes involving bash terminals, text files, and spreadsheets (libre).
However, it plagues me for copying from Firefox web pages. It is so bad that I often open up a simple text file on the copy-from VM to see if anything is being captured. In those cases, the paste usually does not paste anything. I realize that this is not a bug report, but maybe this scenario will help create a context for further debugging, that may provide a higher repro rate.
