In Ubuntu 22.04, firefox was automatically transitioned to the snap
package, which is published by Mozilla.

The snap will attempt to import existing profiles if it was never run before.
Could it be that you had installed/tried the firefox snap in the past, and thus
had already an existing profile?
If so, deleting it and re-running the application should fix the problem:

    rm -rf ~/snap/firefox
    snap run firefox

If not, please attach the output of the following commands:

    apt policy firefox

    snap info firefox

    snap connections firefox

Thanks!
