Ran into this too. I could resolve it by deleting the firefox snap folder as descibed above and afterwarts start firefox again. Thus this was on a plain install of lubuntu 21.10 that never had any firefox packages installed except from the ones shipped with 21.10. Probably the issue is more that ubuntu started using firefox snap with 21.04 or 21.10 (I don't remember exactly) but not the original mozilla package and now has switched to the original with 22.04. That would explain why a snap folder already existed. However the profiles still resided in $home/.mozilla until 21.10. Looks like that already existing snap folder prevents the new firefoc snap from importing the profiles. Unsure if that is a fail by ubuntu maintainers or mozilla snap maintainers though...
