How times have changed. My laptop is 32bit, but of course on EC2 I can
easily fire up a 64bit instance. I just thought that 32bit causes less
trouble.

Out of interest: Are you actually building for the desktop, or for
other systems? So far, nobody has mentioned which build is the most
reliable, i.e. stable. I just need something for testing app
installation, don't care much what.

By the way, a prebuilt EC2 machine image would be awesome!
