Hello,

I came across with one of the FTU screens [1] about geolocation. On this screen, it is written that FxOS will use "data such as GPS, WiFi and mobile networks" to help determine my location. Also, it is written that data will be "sent to Mozilla and other service providers and will be used in the aggregate to improve those location databases."

I tried to find information about these providers and these databases but no luck. At the "More about your privacy" section [2] there is a paragraph about location, where there is the phrase "geolocation service providers" but again it doesn't name any of them.

I am interested to know if there is any relative bug, discussion, etherpad or wiki page I am missing.

Also interested to know if Mozilla is going to create and support its own database or if there are thoughts on using and contributing to other open databases [3][4][5][6][7]?

Thanks,
fredy
