Hm yes the Alcatel is quite a tortoise speed-wise and unresponsive at times. I also blame the hardware for that. Is the difference between the Alcatel One Touch Fire and the ZTE Open C really so huge? Because if it really is I might even buy the Open C. For 75 EUR it's affordable enough to play around. I'll see if I get 1.4 running on my phone (which unfortunately I just bricked trying to update...) and if I like it and you can confirm that the ZTE is worth its money, I think I'll upgrade. > I've also discovered that flashing with our own builds is difficult > because there are a lot of dependencies to hardware (my proximity sensor > doesn't work anymore (no drivers), so I have to use headsets to avoid > dropping /muting calls...). Are these issues that are present on the Open C? Do you use it with 1.4 right now? > I realize this project is super challenging and is still a "baby", the > teams are doing incredible things with scarce resources. Competition is good for all sides (and I trust the Mozilla Foundation more than any other smartphone provider as of now). This is, in my opinion, where the FxOS can really make a strong point: By showing that it's actually respecting the users privacy (in strong contrast to Google and Apple).
