well, using absolute links IS the fix, but it involves a change that
needs to be discussed ;)
The other option is to drop all the code we are using now to calculate
relative links and rewrite it in order to make links relative to *the
current url*, not the current node (the concept of using the current
node for calculating links is totally broken if we don't have a one to
one mapping between url and pages)... Anyway, I found out that in case
of virtual URIs, forward, include and error pages is not always easy
to find out the displayed url.
