This is incorrect/old information: Facebook *is* using WebP for mobile and has

It's been stated (in this bug, e.g.) that WebP will stick to VP8 for the 
foreseeable future, mostly for stability reasons and hardware support (lossy) 
through re-use of existing VP8 hardware decoders.

Doesn't mean VP9 is not worth experimenting, though, but that is a separate 
effort for now.
