I suppose that if Mozilla keeps pushing back the implementation of WebP it will only delay it's implementation. If respected companies with great products like Mozilla don't follow up and improve their own products by supporting better standards then it's hard imagine how they expect others to follow suit. I think there are plenty valid arguments for the implementation of WebP support and close to none against it.
