i share the same opinion as Ash. Slack, due to its volatile form, is better suited to short and simple problems. Often these questions are just one sentence and the answer is just one word.
Besides, Slack has a much less formal form. It is much easier to make direct contact than on Github. On Slack, doing off-topic is fairly normal and frequent.
