I would expect that manual conversion to OOoBasic will be much easier.

Python also has the disadvantage that the necessary PyUNO binding is not
tested as good as the internal Basic UNO interface so you show expect
more bugs to occur.

You also don't have an IDE inside OOo and the memory consumption goes
up. I don't know about performance.
