Hi Gerhard,

before we talk in more detail about a possible repository etc. let me ask for what exactly do you have created helper?

I assume that we talk here about Java helper classes, right? In general it is a good idea to provide some easier to use helper classes or better easier to use API's. But i would prefer to think about a language independent approach.

I know that the current API is often too complex and not easy to use. And with multiple inheritance interfaces and new style services we can simplify it a lot. The main important point is that we have to do it and most often the priority is low. My long term goal is to extend or replace existing API's with multiple inheritance and new style services to make them more intuitive and easier to use.

Please give us the necessary feedback that we can focus on the most often used and most important API's with our improvements.

Hi there,

nobody can develop code for OpenOPffice without writing little helpers
first.

I don't like to publich my helper classes as snippets because they are often
interconnected with each other. Stripping them down makes the code
redundant and uggly.

How about if there would be a subversion server somewhere on the
internet, prefferably on the OO-homepage, where one could publish his helper
classes?

The author would be the adminstrator of his files and would decide who is
allowed
to submit changes, if at all.

- This would make it easy to publish code.
- The ammount of code examples would increase.
- One could also publish "out of the box usable" examples for Eclipse or
NetBeans.
- Well documented and generally accepted helper classes could be
transferd bundeled into a standard library

Who would support such a venture?

Cheers, Gerhard
