Hi together,
Sometimes i have the feeling that it is regardless what Sun is doing
somebody will always complain about it. If we do more for NetBeans than
Eclispe than it is wrong if we prefer Java more than Python it is wrong.
If Sun sponsor Sun open source projects with a lot of money it is wrong
and Sun is bad ... I don't understand it.
Only people with less OO experience would think so. Sun is doing very
good work and I would appreciate to be an employee of Sun!
if you are interested we have currently some open jobs. Please send me
your application or contact me directly.
The OpenOffice API is complicated. All code examples in the
DevelopersGuide are from the core team and all of them are out dated.
sorry but that is again nonsense. Of course there are API's where we
have better API's today but they are not out dated. I am sure that all
of them work.
A colleague of mine is starting with the OO API in Java. He thinks that
the API is complecated, too. At first I thought the same. But the
failure was, that I wanted to think the Java way and not the UNO way.
After I startet thinking the UNO way everything worked very well.
good to here that. It always to easy to prepare a better single language
solution. Think about all the nice new Java features ... but with UNO we
go the language independent way and that has some advantages as well.
Why not open up and provide a place where to publish code?
because it needs somebody who do it and it costs money.
A wikipedia approach would not work for such a project. People often
think, a community is a bit self organizing. But for the project you
suggested, you would need an *excellent* project leader and software
architect if the project starts to grow.
Gerhard, there are already people thinking your way. But its a company:
.riess . They offer a Java UNO wrapper. I think this is a very good
solution for you.
well, that is my favorite "bad " example (not really bad). But they
provide always a snapshot of a special release. I personally don't like
this approach but anyway ...
