No.

No it is not and would not be "cool" by any possible definition.

On the long list of truely bad ideas "cmake" is at the top. Kitware
exists to make money. Nothing else. The "cmake" tool exists to create
lock in and horrific levels of unwanted complexity.

Just stop. Do not ever go towards cmake. Ever.
