I think this is clear. We still have to discuss a change of license and
decide for ourselves.

It's up to you. The evaluation committee looked at your license when it
was performing its review of ArgoUML and concluded that it was ok for
admission to the Conservancy (basically, so long as the license is
generally considered free). What do you mean specifically by "pointing
to" the Regents of the University of California? I note that they are
the copyright holder in the notice. The Conservancy will accept
copyright assignment but it's entirely up to the project. Or if you are
concerned about changing the license generally, we can help and discuss
the merits of different licenses (obviously, some of us are fans of the
GPL :) ). We can discuss this with you before or after you join the
Conservancy.

It might make sense to register the trademark, depending on the
circumstances. This is something else we can discuss with you too. It
costs around $300 to register a trademark, which has some benefits.
However, there is some legal trademark protection that kicks in just by
using the mark, which might be good enough for your purposes. SFLC
(where I'm also employed as a lawyer) has been providing legal counsel
to the Conservancy and its projects, so this might be something that
they would be willing to take on too.
