The reason that I missed the update to Subclipse 1.4 is that they changed the update site URL, so that Eclipse's automatic update mechanism won't work. Additionally, if you just google "Subclipse update site," you'll end up on the 1.2.x update site with no indication that there's anything newer. They've discontinued support of 1.2.x, so if you're running that (on any version of Eclipse), you should manually add the Subclipse 1.4 update site (http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.4.x/) and install the new version.
