Hi Graham,

I caught up this morning on the building and running. We are starting to use Atlas heavily starting this week and so I have 3-4 developers starting it up with that little setup. There are few documentation errors that I've found but I am able to start things up with that git page that I sent out (https://github.com/jahhulbert-ccri/graphy-stuff/blob/master/atlas/doc/setup.md) which I think is very similar to what the discussion was.

I'll try out your variant and let you know! All my setups are on Ubuntu, Centos7, and Amazon Linux.

I was gonna PR the AtlasSetup class not found issue. Should I just make a ticket in JIRA for that? I PR'd something before but can't remember if I made the ticket or not.

Also, is there something like a slack or gitter channel for Atlas? In general we're also exploring being more active in Atlas usage/development so any tips for that are welcome. We are using Atlas in a slightly different way than data governance but it's a really cool tool for a typed graph. Our usage is more like the employee database like this example: https://github.com/apache/atlas/blob/435fe3fbad0dbb41297cc7af7986d3062704d7ee/intg/src/test/java/org/apache/atlas/TestRelationshipUtilsV2.java

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew

Not sure if you've been following the other dev thread with subject "
Instructions to build & run Atlas in dev environment", but that might
help. People seemed to be getting mixed results with build/start of the
Atlas server, so there has been a push to try and get things working
consistently across builds/platforms etc, and identify anything that needs
attention. If you try the instructions that Ashutosh put together (see
that email chain) for Titan 0.5.4 or my variant that uses Janus 0.2.0, do
you still see a class not found for org.apache.atlas.web.setup.AtlasSetup?

Best regards,
   Graham

Subject: standalone mode setup

Hi all,

I was going to create a ticket to look at the following problem that I
sent to the user list earlier last month
(
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__mail-2Darchives.apache.org_mod-5Fmbox_atlas-2Duser_201710.mbox_-253C62b82a4e-2Ddfcd-2Def37-2Db396-2D1a50c53ebe00-2540ccri.com-253E&d=DwICaQ&c=jf_iaSHvJObTbx-siA1ZOg&r=Li6zJa6pLsu8dGS1GSW1j00glumVmLp0H5HVkn5QyAA&m=akf_Ahqj1VFFSQF5TGFrULoNHYuOf1l1FPC9CPTrRwI&s=MlkeWS791ShrGt_8a27MlmJieYpAbQ0Q1YJCv0KQWB8&e=
)

I just wanted to check in and see if anyone was already looking at this
issue or working on the "standalone" with embedded hbase/solr setup
before I run off and try to make it work...I didn't see anything in JIRA
yet...if not I'll try to make a ticket and ask someone to assign it to me.

Cheers,

Andrew Hulbert

Hi all,

I noticed that the startup script in standalone mode doesn't work when
running setup due to a class not existing anymore
(org.apache.atlas.web.setup.AtlasSetup):

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__github.com_apache_atlas_blob_master_distro_src_bin_atlas-5Fstart.py-23L137&d=DwICaQ&c=jf_iaSHvJObTbx-siA1ZOg&r=Li6zJa6pLsu8dGS1GSW1j00glumVmLp0H5HVkn5QyAA&m=akf_Ahqj1VFFSQF5TGFrULoNHYuOf1l1FPC9CPTrRwI&s=vz5H5ySaD2AjKg_eNjqJJjPl5x2pXhJEn9pldbXV3qQ&e=

Is there already a ticket open for this? I was able to get things
working by starting my own hbase and solr server locally and then
starting the Atlas webapp. I can try to figure out something and PR it
up but wasn't sure if there was some other idea in the words for running
the standalone setup?

Thanks for any info!

Andrew
