I'd be perfectly willing to do so, if that message is a real issue for the Avalon PMC. I don't want to spread FUD with regards to Codehaus, though. Since the people behind Jira over there (http://jira.codehaus.org/Administrators.jspa) should be in perfectly good standing with the ASF, some of them even being Member as opposed to me, maybe they might be willing to change that message on their frontpage.
That said anyone here is welcomed to use the JIRA installation on the codehaus box. I'm also sure Mike would give you a copy of JIRA to install anywhere you wished. I'm certainly not trying to garner any favouritism by helping you host your issue tracking system. Something for issue tracking is needed and the process/software for issue tracking at Jakarta is broken and this is obvious to many.
I feel somehow being misinterpreted: the idea about the diverging goals of Codehaus clearly isn't mine, but Berin's. I was just hesitantly stating that, _given_ serious issues and a real need to move, I would be willing to help Avalon out. As it looks right now, I see even less reason to move issue tracking away from Codehaus, as I was already expecting. So basically, my offer still stands, but as far as I can see right now, the decision where to host issue tracking for Avalon seems pretty arbitrary to me.
<imho>I agree on the abysmal state of mailing list archiving and issue tracking @ Apache, of course, one of the main reasons I started cocoondev.org myself. Not to bypass [EMAIL PROTECTED], but because I didn't have the time nor the energy to earn the trust needed to get access to these installations. Now that cocoondev.org is out there, I'm feeling the pain some of the Apache infrastructure people have been subjected to for a long time. But at least I can now blame it on myself. :-)</imho>
I'm also adverse towards any favouritism: http://blogs.cocoondev.org/stevenn/archives/000807.html
